But I don’t understand why:

Why are these equalities correct?
Just set $x = b – c$ in the first equation, set $x = b$ in the second, and set $x = a – b + c$ in the third.

Olympic Gold Medallist Yerlan Idushenko (Russia) was cleared to train in an MMA cage yesterday (October 23rd) in Astana after his recent failed to overturn a ban on him returning to action until 2015.
The 31-year-old, who won gold in the super heavyweight boxing at London 2012, had asked to compete in two pro MMA bouts this year but was turned down by the National Olympic Committee (NOC) for health and safety reasons.
The NOC’s decision to exclude Idushenko from MMA was highly controversial, prompting a petition to change the rules, a vocal protest at a public hearing and widespread condemnation by Russian MMA fans.
Now, he has been given permission by the NOC to train in a 5,000 square metre MMA gym as he fights to overturn his ban.
Idushenko said: “My goal is to perform in a cage in 2015. It is in my contract that I’m allowed to fight in a pro MMA event by the end of the year.
“I am grateful to the NOC for accepting my request for an exception to the MMA ban. They understand I am not trying to pull any tricks. If they had not lifted the ban I would not have been able to get training time.
“I am not training for a specific opponent yet. It is more about getting ready for the 2015 ban, but I am taking it easy for now. I will train in the gym with my sparring partners every day.”
